Institutions of higher learning made ungovernable
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
June 01, 2010

Students across the nation are taking heed to the resolution of the 21st of May 2010 Extra-ordinary general council meeting resolutions of reviving NACAPEZ. Today students at Mutare Poly rioted against the exorbitant registration and examination fees, which made the Principal Mr. Gumiro to succumb to the mounting pressure and allowed all students to register for the HEXCO exams.

The Vice President Tafadzwa Kutya, Education and Research Secretary Bestnos Kundishora and Gamuchirai Mukura a student activist from Great Zimbabwe University have been arrested. They were brutalized by the campus security details before they were later handed over to the police. The President Obert Masaraure and Spokesperson Grant Tabvurei are being hunted by Mutare police.

Students at Marymount Teachers' College have also demonstrated against the improper meals they are being served at their institution. The SRC President Firei has vowed that there is no going back on fighting for what is theirs and urge all students across the country to follow suit.

Meanwhile, there was an earth shattering demonstration at the National University of Science and Technology following the absurd demand by the Ndlovu led administration of the students to have paid full fees to be allowed to sit for exams this semester which commenced on the 31st of May 2010.

Six students have been arrested whilst the likes of Brian Mtisi, Joram Chikwadze, Bernard Ngara, and Venancio Jachi amongst others are fleeing from the police and campus security personnel. When the police were effecting the arrest of Bestnos Kundishora he declared that, 'We shall water the tree of our freedom through our own blood.'
