Re-invigoration of NACAPEZ
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
May 27, 2010
The National Campaign
against Privatization of Education in Zimbabwe (NACAPEZ) was launched
in February 2009 after the National Campaign against Dollarization
of Education (NACADEZ) in Zimbabwe failed. The students of Zimbabwe
are failing to cope with the effects of privatized education in
Zimbabwe, hence there are more drop-outs than ever before in the
history of the country.
The quality of education
has been compromised because of the issue of privatization and this
has got viral effects in the development of the nation in the future.
In reference to the extra-ordinary general council meeting of 21st
of May 2010, ZINASU as the mother body is partnering with ZIHHISU
to ensure that the co modification of education at all levels is
scrapped off.
ZIHHISU forces have taken
it to the streets today, demonstrating against the exorbitant examination
fees as well as the deadline of 28 May 2010. The forces were led
by the President Kudakwashe Munemo and they have shown their buoyancy
and determination. Police brutality to these youngsters is condemned
with uttermost contempt and ZINASU calls Mutsekwa and Mohadi to
leave office with immediate effect.
The Advisory Board is
convening its first meeting in Harare in the afternoon to discuss
on the administrative and housekeeping issues. ZINASU is now located
at 57 Central Avenue in Harare's Central Business District.
The information department
sincerely apologizes for not informing students, civil society and
partners of the cancellation of the Press Conference on the 25th
of May 2010. This evening ZINASU shall have a Quill Talk with the
theme, 'Re-invigorating National Campaign against Privatization
of Education in Zimbabwe.'
