Defectors' portfolios filled as students elected an interim
ZINASU National Executive Council
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
(Mugwadi)
May 11, 2010
Pursuant to
the defection by some members of the Zimbabwe National Students
Union (ZINASU) National Executive Council members, the ZINASU President
Tafadzwa Tuboy Mugwadi held a special meeting with members of the
ZINASU General Council on Friday 07 May 2010.The meeting was held
at the ZINASU offices in Harare. Due to the urgency of the meeting,
twenty-three bonafide General Councilors attended the meeting and
resolved among other things that:
- We shall
safe guard and fully implement all Congress resolutions in their
totality.
- The President's
ultimatum to the Prime Minister on the fees, HEXCO examination
results, and the University
of Zimbabwe accommodation crisis be pursued without hesitation.
- Defection
by some members of the National Executive Council was a treasonous
crime against the Union and those members who defected must be
replaced by an interim National executive Council pending a General
Council meeting to be convened within a month. The task of the
interim executive includes among other duties to mobilize and
prepare students across the country for resistance against the
current education denying fees, sustain the Union programmes and
prepare for the general council meeting. Because of that the meeting
resolved that the following comrades be the interim National Executive
Council:

ZINASU is not
a bush organization whose operations are determined by personalities
who are driven by a strong desire for money, it is a movement that
is premised and found on a constitution whose dictates overwhelm
personal capacities and ambitions. Our actions of today shall not
seek approval or disapproval from our times but from a truth which
we have realized and acknowledged, this truth is found within our
congress resolutions and shaped by our constitution. We are convinced
that the higher insight of posterity shall not only understand us
but shall equally realize our correctness.
Our union is
a poor but principled one and shall never be exchanged for silver
and gold, that will not happen not in our watch.
Long live ZINASU!
