ZINASU unites
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)

The two rival ZINASU factions having realized that divisions within the students movement were detrimental to the students community and the image of the organization. The two rival National Executive Councils (NEC) sat on Sunday the 2nd of May where 19 out of the 21 members were present. Those who were absent are Georgina Sango former Vice-President of the Chinyere led faction and Roselyn Ushewokunze the former International Relations Secretary of the Mugwadi-led faction. The resolutions are as follows:

  • The Union shall continue with its centre-leftist approach
  • Dissolve the secretariats and employ a new one
  • The NEC shall appoint a new Advisory Board
  • ZINASU shall have independent offices away from Crisis Coalition and Bumbiro House
  • In respect with the national constitution-making process ZINASU shall convene a constitutional conference to enable students to debate and come up with a position.

ZINASU salutes the revolutionary stance that was taken by comrades who decided to cede power for the sake of unity, history and the future shall reward them. ZINASU invites all partners to a press conference to be held at Cresta Oasis Hotel Harare at 2:30 pm tomorrow (4 May 2010)
