ZINASU
National President Tafadzwa 'Tu-boy' Mugwadi still in
custody
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
(Mugwadi)
March 29, 2010
The Zimbabwe National
Students Union (ZINASU) National President Tafadzwa "Tu-boy"
Mugwadi is still in custody at Harare Central Police Station and
is set to appear in court tomorrow.
President Mugwadi was arrested on Saturday the 27th of March 2010
at Harare Polytechnic College together with the ZINASU Education
and Research secretary Bestnos Kundishora and University of Zimbabwe
student leader Alias Chitombo after distributing ZINASU Weekly newsletters
and addressing students during the Tertiary Games hosted by the
college. Initially two student leaders arrested on together with
the president Kundishora and Chitombo were released yesterday with
no charges.
ZINASU demands the immediate and unconditional release of President
Mugwadi we believe that the detention of President Mugwadi is clearly
political and a violation of our rights to education and a clear
breach of all rights declarations and covenants.
This spiraling and continued violation of our academic rights is
in spite of the realities of the inclusive government and the Union
feels betrayed by those governing this land. Today the so called
transition is only a change of governing personalities and mere
technocratic changes ushering nothing but words.
