Arrested
student leaders application turned down
Students Solidarity Trust
November 23, 2009
The four Student Leaders
arrested on the 2nd of August for participating in a gathering with
intent to promote public violence and breach of peace today appeared
in court and had their application for refusal of further remand
turned down. The four students, Brian Rundogo, Kudakwashe Chakabva,
Clever Bere and Archieford Mudzengi first appeared in Court on the
7th of August and since then have been reporting to police every
Friday. These stringent reporting conditions and the time that has
passed without the State setting a trial date led their Lawyer to
submit an application for refusal of further remand which was turned
down on the basis that the Students were likely to abscond. The
four have been further remanded to the to the 21st of December.
