Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
July 29, 2009

The Union has disbursed 24 research assistants in all its 6 administrative provincial regions to carry out a research on the current state of the higher education sector in Zimbabwe. The research is being done in randomly selected twenty four colleges and universities in the country. The strategic objective of the research is to collect accurate and up-to date data on the current state of education in tertiary institutions.

The information obtained will to be used to produce a draft policy paper on higher education reform to be presented to the Minster of Higher and Tertiary education Mr. Stan Mudenge on the 28th of August 2009. There is also need to come up with a well synchronized report on the state of the education sector that will also be presented at the All Stakeholders Conference on Higher Education that is scheduled for the 18th of September 2009.ZINASU will further use the findings obtained in this research to inform its lobbying and advocacy work.

TESA Social Games in Gwanda

Tertiary Education Sports Activities (TESA) for Polytechnic colleges are on tomorrow 30 July to 01 August 2009 at Gwanda Polytechnic College. The social games are meant to bring together all students from polytechnic colleges through social events like playing various games e.g. soccer, netball, chase, volleyball. ZINASU will take advantage of the platform to address students on the current state of the education sector, what ZINASU has done so far in representing the welfare of students at national level and also to interact with the students on challenges they are facing in their respective institutions and come up with constructive ways to improve the education sector.
