Student leader appears in court

The Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) Legal and Academic Affairs Secretary Courage Ngwarai appeared before a Masvingo Magistrate court yesterday. He is facing charges of malicious damage to property. The charges arose from a demonstration at Great Zimbabwe University where Courage was a student leader before he was suspended.

The Chief Security officer of the Great Zimbabwe University, a Mr. Marewerwa who is a key witness in this case failed to appear in court. The case was further remanded to the 7th of June. What is shocking is the fact that Marewerwa was seen at the university but decided not to attend court. The magistrate orders that if he did not attend on the 7th of June the case will proceed without his submissions.
