Cde Tafadzwa Mukandi laid to rest
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)

More than 200 youth acitivsts, friends, relatives gathered in Hwedza communal lands to pay their last respects to Student Christian Movement of Zimbabwe Senior Programs Officer, Board Chairperson of the Youth Agenda Trust and former University of Zimbabwe student leader Cde Tafadzwa Mukandi, who passed away on Saturday the 21 February 2009 after a short illness. Speaker after speaker described the late Mukandi as a vibrant and dedicated youth activist who fought immensely for the emancipation of the young people in Zimbabwe.

Representatives from the following organizations attended the burial, Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU), Student Christian Movement of Zimbabwe (SCMZ), Student Solidarity Trust,Vhitori Entertainment, Youth Forum, Youth Agenda Trust, Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, Youth Initiative for Zimbabwe(YIDEZ), SAYWHAT,Chrisitian Alliance, ZIMRIGHTS, Combined Harare Residents Association (CHRA) and the National Constitutional Assembly. On behalf of ZINASU, we thank these organizations for the support and unity they exhibited during this sorrowful moment and we hope this gesture of comradeship will continue.

We salute and are humbled by the work accomplished by comrade Mukandi and we will continue fighting for our freedoms and rights as the youth of Zimbabwe. We urge the SCMZ derive solace and comfort from the work done by Cde Mukandi and remain focused and united.
