Students
shun Mugabe march
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
May 29, 2008
The Zimbabwe National
students Union (ZINASU) salutes the students of Zimbabwe for shunning
the proposed bogus solidarity march for Robert Mugabe by the ZANU-PF
backed Zimbabwe Congress of Students Union (ZICOSU) who are based
at Munhumutapa Building. Despite the $50 USD participating allowance
promised per each student, the students remained unequivocally and
categorically clear that they will not be bought by cheap pieces
of silver to forget the pain and suffering caused by the illegitimate
government of Mugabe on the students of Zimbabwe and the nation
at large. The march had been proposed for the 26th of May.
ZINASU would
also like to take this opportunity to thank the victor of the March
29 election, President Morgan Richard Tsvangirai for heeding the
peoples call and returning to our motherland, Zimbabwe in preparation
to run-over Mugabe in this so called run-off. The students of Zimbabwe
re-affirm their support for a pro democratic movement which respects
the people's will and upholds democratic values and norms
and as such, that movement is the Movement for Democratic Change
led by the people's president Mr. Tsvangirai. We further reiterate
that we will not allow Mugabe to steal our election. The June 27
election is not a contest between Mr. Mugabe and Mr. Tsvangirai,
however it is an election between Mugabe and the people of Zimbabwe
and on this day democracy will officiate.
For and on behalf of the union,
I remain
Blessing Vava
Information and Publicity Secretary
