  • Two NUST students released
    Student Solidarity Trust
    April 21, 2008

Two National University of Science and Technology (NUST) students, Trevor Chizanga and Tendai Chingoma were released today as their case crumbled due to lack of evidence. They were being charged with Malicious Damage to Property (MDP) following the demonstration that rocked the university last Wednesday. The two were suppose to appear in the Bulawayo magistrate court today but the Officer in Charge released them and said the case will proceed by way of summons. The two were arrested together with eight others.

The other eight were released after they were forced to pay admission of guilty fines on Wednesday. The eight according to their Lawyer were charged under the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act for conduct likely to provoke a breach of peace.

Students at NUST and UZ embarked on the demonstrations on Wednesday 16 April demanding the immediate results of 29 March poll. Zimbabweans are aware that Morgan Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic change won the elections thus why Mugabe is refusing to release the results.
