ZINASU
commemorates the March 11 atrocities
Zimbabwe
National Students Union (ZINASU)
March 11, 2008
The Zimbabwe National
Students Union joins the rest of the country in commemorating the
atrocious events of March 11, 2007. What was supposed to be a peaceful
prayer meeting turned out to be an opportune moment for the vampire
regime to suck blood off the innocent and to display its ultra sadistic
tendencies towards the people they profess to govern.
A prayer meeting organised
by respectable clergymen under the Save Zimbabwe Campaign, praying
for our beloved country that has been witnessing unruly forms of
abuse caused by Mugabe and his oligarchy. Zimbabwe is experiencing
the highest inflation rate in the world in which the government
or rather Zanu PF controlled Central Statistics Office put at a
modest 103,000% and the worst forms of human rights abuse reminiscent
of the Adolf Hitler Regime in an effort to cling on to power whether
overtly or covertly, legally or illegally and through any means
necessary. Through any means necessary is the ideology that is underlining
Zanu PF. The prayer meeting mirrored the crisis bedevilling our
beloved country in black and white for all to see. Pretending everything
was normal and fearing exposure of mismanagement, Mugabe violently
disrupted the meeting. Gift Tandare, a Human Rights activist, was
shot dead in cold blood by the brutal and overzealous police following
reckless orders by the geriatric dictator.
President Morgan
Richard Tsvangirai of the Movement for Democratic Change and the
chairman of the National
Constitution Assembly, Dr Lovemore Madhuku were among the scores
of people who were arrested on their way to the meeting.
The period running up
to the General Elections has been punctuated by violence and voter
intimidation orchestrated by the rogue state through its dreaded
and odious Central Intelligence Organisation, Zanu Pf elements and
the police force. Numerous arrests on the aspiring opposition candidates
and supporters have been made on and concocted charges with inalienable
constitutional right of trial within a reasonable time being blatantly
disregarded. This is a strategy to technically deny the opposition
enough time to campaign.
We however urge
all eligible Zimbabwean voters to go and vote on the 29th of March
2008. Let's vote with our fallen heroes in mind. Let's vote with
Gift Tandare, Learnmore Jongwe, Talent Mabika, Tichaona Chiminya
and many other victims of Mugabe's brutality in mind.
ZINASU thus
joins the Zimbabwean community in commemorating the first anniversary
of the sad events that unfolded on March 11, 2007 particularly at
a time when elections are a stone's throw away.
