A Harare magistrate has today further remanded seven University of Zimbabwe (UZ) students. The seven are Shaun Matsheza, (Acting President) University of Zimbabwe (SEC), Ceasar Sitiya, Shadreck Vengesai, Tatenda Chiuya, Manifest Jabuli, Shingairai Chikomba and Thabani Moyo.

Their case arose from the disturbances that rocked the university last July when students protested against top up fees. They were arrested and detained at Harare central police station. To date they have appeared at Harare magistrate court more than six times. They are being charged with malicious damage to property (MDP).Today the magistrate further remanded them again to the 5th of March.

In a related story, four students from Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) are expected to appear in court today on charges of contempt of court. These charges arose last year when the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) launched the "Save Edison campaign" after the prolonged detention of Edison Hlatswayo at Mutimurefu prison when he was being charged of malicious injury to property(MIP) .The four are Brenda Mupfurutsa, Ogylive Makowa, George Makamure and Joel Bingudza.
