Student victimisation hits an alarming rate
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
November 13, 2007

Masvingo

The unshameful state apparatus, irregardless of the torture and unwarranted 30 days remand in prison of Edison Hlatswayo, have today the 12th of November 2007 served six student leaders with indefinite suspension letters and immediately evicted them from their halls of residence. The victims being, Orgylife Makova, George Makamure, Courage Ngwarai, Edmore Makonjese, Leonard Gwata, Thomas Chanakira and a female student Brenda Mupfurutsa, are expected to leave campus and sort their way to their respective homes and unfortunately they all stay out of Masvingo.

In light of the foregoing, Zimbabwe National Student Union has engaged the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to draft a High Court application to allow the students to be reinstated or at least be able to sit for their examinations that will be commencing in a weeks' time. Student Solidarity Trust has however put systems in place to assist the students with regard to alternative accomodation, meals and subsistence as the application is being worked on.

Zimbabwe National Students Union holds the government of Zimbabwe accountable and responsible for the suffering of students in Masvingo.
