University of Zimbabwe acquits 3 students
Students Solidarity Trust
October 24, 2007

At the University of Zimbabwe, Shaun Matsheza the Students Executive Council (SEC) Vice-President, Ceasar Sitiya, Manifest Jabuli, Thabani Moyo, Tatenda Chiuya, Shingai Chikomba, Fortune Chamba and the University of Zimbabwe Students Executive council president Lovemore Chinoputsa appeared before the committee today.

Manifest Jabuli, Tatenda Chiuya and Thabani Moyo have been acquitted as there was no evidence to support the University's claims. The three were being charged for allegedly "leading a group of students that went on the rampage at the university of Zimbabwe" on 7 July 2007. The charges arose from the disturbances that rocked the University last semester following the administration's move to demand a top up fee of $1 Million for the extension of a semester that was supposed to have ended in June.
