Hundreds of students protest at the courts as Edison Hlatswayo further remanded in custody
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
October 16, 2007

Masvingo

Hundreds of students from colleges in Masvingo today went riotous at the Magistrates courts after Edison Hlatswayo was further remanded in custody to tomorrow. The courts were immediately closed and riot police violently dispersed the protesting students. One overzealous state security agent identified as Mutandiri shouted at the students gathering saying "You don't know blood, we have seen blood, we have spilled blood, and we shall quell you all" ZINASU Secretary General Beloved Chiweshe and the Legal and Academic Affairs Secretary Milward Makwenjere expressed depressing shock from the barbaric actions by the government of Robert Mugabe.

"We just need to take this anti-people regime head on"

Hlatswayo will appear for the record fifth time tomorrow before Masvingo Magistrate Courts.

Meanwhile . . .

The Free Edison Hlatswayo Campaign Intensifies as eleven students were yesterday arrested and detained at Masvingo Central Police Station. Amongst the arrested are Chitsike Munyaradzi, Cleopas Zhoya, Stewart and who are in a critical condition from the shameless assaults and torture by state agents.

The Government can kill the Revolutionaries but it cannot kill the Revolution
