. . . As RESERVE Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ) Governor Dr Gideon Gono's three children and Police Commissioner Augustine Chihuri's son face deportation from Australia

Zimbabwe National Students Union, a representative body of Higher and Tertiary institutions in Zimbabwe highly commends the stance taken by the Australian Government after an announcement on Friday 17 August 2007 by the Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Downer to deport children of Zimbabwean government officials and other people on the sanctions list studying in that country.

More than 300 children of Government and ZANU PF officials are studying abroad, enjoying " First World" health and education services. Gideon Gono's twin daughters Pride and Praise, currently studying tourism and hospitality at La Trobe University, and his son Passion, studying music production in Sydney will be facing deportation. Augustine Chihuri's son, Sylvester, also faces deportation.

ZINASU wishes that such a noble stance be taken up by all other countries abroad. The Zimbabwe education delivery system standards are fast deteriorating and losing local, regional and international recognition. Mugabe and his cronies should feel the boomerang effect of their misgovernance.
