Six student leaders released but denied access to their belongings
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
July 13, 2007

Six student leaders from the University of Zimbabwe, who had been arrested on Saturday the 7th of July 2007, were released on Monday the 9th of July 2007 on bail after appearing before the high courts, but ridiculously denied access to their belonging by the university authorities. The six, Ceasar Sitiya, Tatenda Chiuya, Shaun Matsheza, Shingai Brian Chikomba, Thabani Nthokozise, and Manifest Jabula, who after being released from brutal police custody, were detained yet again by the university security for the whole day and released at 1145pm to sleep in the cold of the night.

The six had gone to campus to access their belongings since all resident students had been forcibly evicted from the halls of residents by the vice chancellor, Levy Nyagura. It is unfortunately reported that the six have not gained access to thier belongings since the day of their release from police custody Monday 9 July 2007. University of Zimbabwe Students Union Vice President, Shaun Matsheza confirmed the sad developments. The six will be siting for their examinations next week and therefore deeply concerned since they have no acces to their books to prepare for examinations.
