Hlatswayo, a University of Zimbabwe Student leader was assaulted
by four masked men |
Violence
revisited the University
of Zimbabwe in the small hours of Tuesday 8 May 2007 when an
unsuspecting student was assaulted.
Clifford Hlatswayo, 22
an Honors in Administration (HAD) student had his sleep disrupted
yesterday by four as yet unknown assailants.
At around 0100
hours, as Clifford was sleeping in a friend's room, there
was a knock on the door. As the occupants responded to the knock,
they were surprised to be attacked by four masked men.
The owner managed to
escape but Clifford was not so lucky as he was the target. As these
men assaulted him, they taunted him saying "tinoziva zvamuri
kuronga" we know what you are planning. Clifford only managed
to get away by jumping out of the first floor window where he sustained
injuries to the head, right hand, and right leg. His hand has had
to be put in a plaster as a result. He is recovering at a private
Clinic in Harare.
Clifford was
last month acquitted of malicious injury to property and it is suspected
that his activism is what resulted in this assault.
