    More arrests occured today the 13th of March, at around 1500 hours. Unfortunately, this happened at a competent court of law in Harare, at the Rotten Row magistrates' were students and other pro-democracy activists had gone to witness the proceedings of the arrested opposition, civic and student leaders. They were picked up by heavily armed riot police officers for allegedly singing the former national anthem of Zimbabwe, "Ishe komborerai Africa" (God bless Africa).

    The arrested are ZINASU president, Promise Mkwananzi, Education and Research secretary, Tellington Kwashira, National Coordinator, Washington Katema as well as a General Council member and Bindura University of Science Education student representative council (SRC) gender secretary, Chiedza Gadzirai. These 4 were picked up while in the company of two Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition employees, Rodrick Chiroodza and Emily Nkungwa.

    Mkwananzi was re-arrested just a few hours after being released from police holding cells over the security situation at the University of Zimbabwe, were he was arrested this morning for allegedly being a threat to peace and stability.These latest arrests brings the total number of student leaders and activists in police detention to 14.
