Long live WOZA
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
March 08, 2007

Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) is greatly delighted to take this opportunity to heartily congratulate Jennifer Williams and the entire WOZA and MOZA movement for wining the civil courage award. The great works which the Women of Zimbabwe are doing to liberate the people of Zimbabwe is unparalleled and continue to inspire us to follow the visionary prints that you have inscribed for us.

On behalf of the students of Zimbabwe, we would also like to take this opportunity to gratefully think the region and the international community at large for the solidarity they have given us and the watchful eye they have kept on Zimbabwean human rights defenders who are on the mercy of a ruthless regime.

This has gone a long way in mitigating what would otherwise have become a terrain for the brutal victimisation of pro-democracy activists. The U.S Embassy in Zimbabwe deserves a special mention for the role they played during the WOZA demonstrations and the immense diplomatic work they have done for Zimbabwe and its key players in the democratic struggles.

WOZA-UK have also been tremendous in their transnational activism which has helped put the Zimbabwean democratic deficit in the full glare of the world's spotlight. They have done this with a boomerang effect.

Once again, we congratulate WOZA and hope that the award will boost their morale and inspire them to forge ahead with the fight until its logical conclusion.

Long live WOZA
