  • Strikes and Protests 2007/8 - Students

  • Students national stayaway
    Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
    February 26, 2007

ZINASU in conjuction with the local SRC is concerned with the incessant increase of tuition and accommodation fees in institutions of higher learning which threaten the right to education.

Concerned about the deteriorating standards of education, accommodation facilities and diet, (which has become a recipe for diarrhoea).

Concerned about the poor renumeration of our lecturers which causes uncertainty of our academic progress. The payout which is an insult to the intelligensia of this country.

The suffering which our parents/guardians go through trying to raise fees for us and our younger brothers and sisters.

We call upon you to be responsive to the current problems by going on a strike from Monday the 5 th of March 2007 demanding

    • an immediate review of our payout,
    • improved  accommodation and food standards
    • in solidarity with our lecturers and parents (workers), demand a review of their salaries to meet their basic needs.
    • the address of the current crisis that threatens to break the very fibre of our beloved country and put into disarray the prospects of a bright future.
