  • 12 Student leaders still in police custody

    February 14, 2007

The 12 student leaders who were incarcerated yesterday after attempting to march to town from Harare Poly are still in police custody.

The ZINASU President, Promise Mkwananzi is among the 12 who are still in police custody. No charges have been preferred against them as yet, the police are still workinig on their dockets.

Indications are that they will appear in court tomorrow.

The student leaders were arrested after holding a general meeting at the Harare Poly, the demonstration was however foiled by riot police.

Students are demanding that government address the plight of workers, including that of lecturers. They also contend that the fees they pay are exorbitant and beyond their reach.
