  • Arrested students still in ruthless police custody

    A total of 78 students from Bulawayo region tertairy institutions most of them from the Bulawayo Polytechnic College, have been yesterday confirmed arrested and detained at the Bulawayo Central Police station.

    The severely beaten students who sustained serious injuries were admitted at the Bulawayo Central Hospital and today discharged but re detained at the police cells. The arrested include the Bulawayo Polytechnic College students union president, Blessed Vava and ZINASU regional chairperson, Lawrence Mashungu. whose conditions are not known and have been denied legal representation.

    Tireless efforts from the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights, Mr. Nzarayapenga, have so far managed to push for the release of 76 students on payment $250 fine. Blessed Vava and Lawrence Mashungu have been further detained for unclear reasons and being denied food and legal representation.
