NUST and UZ student leaders are in trouble
Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU)
July 27, 2006

Isaac Chimutashu,Lawrence Mashungu,Benjamin Nyandoro, Mzwandile Ndlovu all members of the NUST SRC and Beloved Chiweshe the ZINASU Secretary General were arraigned before a hearing and charged with a lot of vague accusations after their demonstrations. They were fined thirty million each and denied further enrolment at the Institution.

Meanwhile the UZ SRC President Tinei Mukwewa has been re-summoned to Bindura Police Station over the burning of the computer lab by Police who are claiming to have found new evidence against him.The revamped onslaught on students leaders is seen as an attempt to thwart oncoming National protests by ZINASU over fees and welfare issues. The ZINASU President Promise Mkwananzi may also be summoned to Bindura and has also been called to a hearing at the University of Zimbabwe where an expulsion is awaiting him over a number of spurious charges.ZINASU is currently waiting for all colleges to open so as to launch the Defending Academic Freedoms in Zimbabwe Resistence Programme that will see all Tertiary Institutions grinding to halt until the fees are abandoned and students are given access to their results.

The onslaught is also coming against the obvious background of the ever increasing political tension in the country perpetrated by ZANU PF`s ILLEGITIMATE regime that has failed to arrest inflation and address the country`s sowering socio-economic and political upheavals. Participation of ZINASU in the Save Zimbabwe Convention which is set to come up with a roll out mass action plan is according to ZANU PF a punishable offence.ZINASU responds to state terror through informing all terror agents that we are unmoved, undettered ,and raring to confront them.

Time is on the side of the truth and victory belongs to the fearless.
