district executive committee members

Teachers' Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ)

- The PTUZ
unequivocally rejects the salary award of 231% and condemns staff
associations who signed in agreement with the government.
- The PTUZ
will take guidance from its membership in dertemining the course
of action to convince the government to rethink their position
- Teachers
have also resolved that the fees being charged by school are out
of reach of the teacher on government payroll
- As a result
they have recommended thatwe lobby the government to abolish fees
for all teachers children in government schools. In the meantime
the Union must launch a publicity campaign urging all teachers
not to pay fees for their children.
- Consultative
meetings are to be held in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Mutare and
Masvingo on the way forward with regards to salary awards.
- The campaign
against high fees will be expanded to include the general public
with the Union urging government to regulate the fees charged
by government schools
