ZIBF
conducts outreach programme
Zimbabwe International
Book Fair (ZIBF)
June 22, 2004
ZIBF has just
come from yet another exciting outreach programme which was held
in Chinhoyi on Monday 21 June. High School students from 20 schools
in Mashonaland West Province took part in the one day long Skills
Sharing Workshop held at Chinhoyi High School. Most of the schools
were represented by an average of 10 Students each.
It was interesting
to note that some schools came as far as Bindura (204km from the
venue) to attend this workshop. Our resource persons, Virginia Phiri
and Shimmer Chinodya delivered sterling presentations to the pupils
who seemed quite fascinated by the fact that they actually got to
meet the people who write some of their set books. They were taken
through a practical session on how to write a passage that would
bring out all the things that they had learnt about e.g What is
a theme, What is a plot etc. Virginia and Shimmer made such a wonderful
team.
Now we are preparing
for the main Book Fair which promises to be an exciting one as we
continue to receive entries almost on a daily basis. So far 272
stands have been taken up and if exhibitors continue to take them
up at this rate, the stands will be fully subscribed by the time
the Book Fair begins.
