Zimbabwe's unemployment rate is high, reaching levels above 90%. That is a distressing statistic. Somehow Zimbabweans have managed to 'make a plan' and sustain themselves. Many people have gone into the informal sector, selling goods at open air markets or musika.

The following pictures show a few of these people at work in some of Harare's neighbourhoods.

Everyone who was photographed was wary of someone coming from an NGO to take their picture. They are very aware of how they are portrayed as poor and pathetic in the media. They were also adamant that they not be portrayed as people to be pitied, but rather as people doing what they can to survive.
