IMF's MD arrives in Africa tomorrow

Monetary Fund's (IMF) Managing Director Mr. Rogrigo deRato will
Tuesday visit Africa to discuss the problems facing the continents.
The visit will
afford him the opportunity of directly hearing from African policy
makers and opinion leaders on the best way the Fund can be of support
to the continent towards reducing poverty.
In a press statement
issued at the weekend, the Fund said: "the forth coming visit
to Africa will provide Mr. de Rato with the opportunity to meet
with central African leaders and representatives of the private
sector and civil society regarding the challenges facing Africa.
Hearing first-hand
from policy makers and opinion leaders will provide the IMF with
valuable insights on how best it an best it can support its members
countries in their effort to reduce poverty and enhance growth."
He will also
attend the inauguration ceremony of the Central Africa Regional
Technical Assistant Centre(AFRITAC) in Libreville Gabon after which
he will then travel to Yaoundé Cameroon to "discuss
how the Fund can help Cameroon attain its growth and poverty reduction
objectives." AFRITAC was established to provide capacity-building
assistance in the areas of the Fund's activities through a team
of experts.
This new centre
is to serve the six countries of Economic and Monetary Community
of Central Africa - Cameroon, Chad, The Central Africa Republic,
Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of Congo as well as Burundi
and the Democratic republic of Congo.
