There are fears
that further delays in aligning over 280 pieces of legislation with
Zimbabwe’s new constitution
could cause havoc in the judiciary system as some court decisions
may soon be struck down as unconstitutional.
Former COPAC chairpersons Munyaradzi Paul Mangwana of Zanu-PF and
Edward Mkhosi of the Movement for Democratic Change on Wednesday
told Newsday newspaper that they should have set time limits on
aligning the laws with the new constitution.
But Zanu-PF parliamentary chief whip Joram Gumbo said they have
already started aligning the laws as evidenced by the creation of
the position of the prosecutor general.
MDC-T chief whip Innocent Gonese said as parliamentarians they are
doing all they can to raise these motions in the House of Assembly.
