says police should prosecute Tsvangirai's lawyers

The state-controlled
Herald newspaper reported Thursday that the Attorney-General’s
Office has asked the police to investigate lawyers who represented
Movement for Democratic Change leader Morgan Tsvangirai in a case
in which he challenged the outcome of the July
31 elections on contempt of court allegations.
The newspaper quoted
Attorney-General Johannes Tomana as saying they have referred the
case to the police for investigation.
Tomana said he would be guided by the police investigations in making
a determination on whether or not to prosecute.
Electoral Court judge
Justice Chinembiri Bhunu last month urged the prosecuting authority
to take “appropriate action” against lawyers Chris Mhike
and advocate Lewis Uriri for bringing the integrity of the judiciary
into disrepute by insinuating that the judiciary was biased towards
President Robert Mugabe since he appointed judges on the Supreme
Court bench.

reach Mr. Tomana as his phone went unanswered.
MDC-T spokesman Douglas
Mwonzora said this is a part of a grand scheme to harass its members
and lawyers working with his party.
