CIO breaks into ZESN while ZPP Officer flees for dear life
Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD)

February 21, 2013

5 members of the Central Intelligence Organization broke into the Zimbabwe Election Support Network Masvingo Offices today at around 0130 am. The five were driving two Nissan twin Cab trucks without number plates, pointed a gun at the private guard who was manning the premise and promised to shoot him if he was going to make any movement. They forced their way into the building breaking the window panes and cutting the security burglar bars. Off the 5, three were women and two were men. They besieged the office belonging to Prosper Mutandadzi the Eastern Region Fielder Officer for Zesn took close to Five hundred T-shirts, 1 Monitor, two drawers with files and office information, three office electricity adapters and dashed off from the premise.

The continued incarceration of the Zimbabwe Election Support Network is a clear indication of the involvement of the security sector in the politics of this country and further suggest that elections will witness another blood bath, forced disappearance, intimidation and torture.

Meanwhile the Central Intelligence Organization stormed Zimbabwe Peace Project Regional Offices yesterday physically checking on Peter Muchengeti the Regional Officer for Masvingo and he had to flee away from Masvingo to Bulawayo in Nicodemus manner.

COTRAD condemns the continued incarceration of Non-Governmental Organizations ahead of any future elections in Zimbabwe.
