No cases
of political violence have been reported but there are reports
that the Presidential well wishers agricultural input scheme
seeds are being distributed unequally on partisan basis. It
is alleged that only ZANU PF supporters are benefitting from
the exercise which initially the President had highlighted
it should benefit everyone in need regardless of political
party. This has exacerbated tension and polarisation in rural
communities.

Gokwe
|
Tense |
There are
reported cases of harassment and intimidation in Gokwe Nembudziya.
It is alleged that ZANU PF district officials in Tsungai district
area are moving around villages harassing and intimidating villagers
for attending a research workshop hosted by students from the
University of Zimbabwe at Isaac Mangwiro's homestead in
Village 2E in Nembudziya on 10 November. As part of the research,
the meeting discussed among other issues the current political
environment in Gokwe and Zimbabwe at large. The villagers are
now being harassed and threatened with unspecified action for
discussing politics with "strangers" without seeking
permission first from the ZANU PF officials. The intimidators
highlighted to the villagers that no one should be allowed in
the area without going through a "vetting" process
by the officials even though the meeting had been sanctioned
by the district administrator and the police.
There are also reports
of unfair distribution of the Presidential well wishers input
scheme in the area where only ZANU PF supporters are benefiting.
It is sad that the maize seeds are being distributed on political
grounds yet the majority of peasant farmers in Gokwe are facing
the same challenges of failing to secure funds to purchase agricultural
inputs since most of them failed to yield much from their cotton
which they were forced to sell on very low prices. |

Tense |
Cases
of politically motivated violence are rampant in Gutu West.
It is alleged that ZANU PF supporters are on a rampage of forcing
people to support ZANU PF as a strategy to fulfil their campaign
target of 1 million new ZANU PF voters before elections. It
is alleged that they are now forcing people to buy their party
cards and when one buys he/she is automatically put in their
data base as a ZANU PF supporter. It has been reported that
on 16 November, Mr Musoni, an MDC activist had his hut set ablaze
for selling MDC party cards to people in the area. The case
has since been reported to the police but no arrests have been
