Masvingo
Zaka West

Tense

The general political atmosphere in Ward 24, Zaka West is tense. It is alleged that ZANU PF activists led by Mr Zvinavako a village head, Mrs Mapopoto, Moreblessing Charuka, Makaitei Mutsvaire, Emmanuel Magaya and Aleck Goronga are harassing villagers forcing them to attend ZANU PF meetings and rallies in the area. Those who refuse are being threatened with unspecified action. Villagers in the area are now living in fear and they also claim the meetings are disrupting their day to day activities as they are being held after every two days.

Another case of political intimidation has been reported in ward 32, Zaka West, where it is alleged that some war veterans aligned to ZANU PF are moving around villages forcing people to attend ZANU PF meetings. All those who attend have their names written in the ZANU PF register as new ZANU PF supporters.

Zaka North
Tense A case of political violence has been reported in the area. The organizing secretary for MDC Zaka North had his field burnt and forcefully taken by some suspected ZANU PF activists on the 10th of November. They vowed never to give him back his land until he joins ZANU PF. The case was reported to the police but no action has taken
Mashonaland East-Mutoko
Tense

A case of political intimidation has been reported in Mutoko Central. It is detailed that ZANU PF youths are moving around villages forcing MDC supporters to surrender t-shirts they got from an MDC rally addressed by President, Prof Welshman Ncube at Mutoko centre a month ago. When one surrenders the t-shirt, his/her name is listed down as a sign of defecting to ZANU PF.

Manicaland-Chipinge East

Tense A case of political violence has been reported in Chipinge East. Mr Fordwell Hlatywayo, a teacher at Chikore High School was unjustifiably transferred from the school to Garahwa Secondary School for openly supporting MDC. The victim has been with the school for more than 24 years. Mr Hlatywayo who is an MDC supporter received the letter of transfer dated 23 October from the provincial Education Director, Mr Chigumira advising him that with effect from 1 November he shall be teaching at Garahwa School which is a remote school in the heart of Chipinge rural close to the Mozambican border. It is alleged that the school head, Mr Maphosa who is a strong ZANU PF supporter is behind the unfair transfer of Mr Hlatywayo simply because he supports MDC. The case has since been referred to Zimbabwe Lawyers For Human Rights.
Manicaland- Makoni South Tense A case of political harassment and intimidation has been reported in village A. Makoni South. It is alleged that an MDC activist Mr Clever Maramba from ward 27 lost his four hectare farm to one Mr Muringani a staunch ZANU PF activist who claims to be a war veteran. It is alleged that the war veteran forcefully seized the farm on 28 October when Mr Maramba had travelled to Nyazura for some family business. Mr Muringani claimed that Mr Maramba cannot own land when he does not have any after his enormous contribution to the liberation struggle. The case was immediately reported to Nyazura police station who in turn referred the case to the District Administrator highlighting that the police is not responsible for land dispute cases. The district administrator refused to entertain the case stating that is was too political.
Manicaland- Makoni Central
Tense In another case of land grab, a group of ZANU PF activists numbering close to 200 invaded a farm belonging to Norman Sachikonye, who is the principal director in the Prime Minister's office and an aspiring MDC parliamentary candidate for Makoni Central. The land invaders who were singing war songs descended onto the aspiring legislator's Zimoti Kop farm and started pegging and haphazardly allocating stands amongst themselves. The invaders were allegedly being led by the Rusape Town Council acting secretary Darlington Museka. Police were called on the scene but refused to disperse the crowd.
Midlands- Kadoma Tense A case of political violence has been reported in Muzvezve constituency. The MDC-T Treasurer for Midlands North, Mr. John Kinnaird who is also an aspiring candidate for Muzvezve constituency and his wife Jackie were severely assaulted on 31 October by suspected ZANU PF activists who were allegedly sent by Muzvezve MP, Hon. Harritatos. The activists are reported to be from Kwekwe. The 56 year old, Mr. Kinnaird sustained multiple head wounds and required 14 stitches. He also suffered a fractured right arm and deep puncture wounds on his legs and just below his throat. His wife Jackie sustained a bruised throat where she was almost strangled by the ZANU PF youth. She also has a compound fracture on her left arm. The attack was meant to restrain Mr. Kinnaird from contesting the Parliamentary seat in the upcoming elections.
