New
board comes aboard for NANGO western region
Bulawayo Agenda
October 15, 2012
The National
Association of Non-Governmental Organisations (NANGO) Western
Region held its elective Annual General Meeting last Friday (12/10/2012)
which saw a number of civic activists assuming different leadership
positions.
Matabeleland
Constitutional Reform Agenda Director Effie Ncube who was the treasurer
in the former board assumed chairmanship of the regional board uncontested.
Ncube shall
be deputized by Women Institute for Leadership Development director
Ms Samukeliso Khumalo who is very passionate about gender equality
issues.
Another new
face in the regional board is that of Mr. Vumani Ndlovu who heads
an organization that is passionate about development of rural communities
and equal access to national resources. Ndlovu replaced Anglistone
Sibanda of Shaloam Project Trust.
Bulawayo Progressive
Residents Association programs manager assumed the post of Vice
Secretary of the board while Victoria Falls based Sethulo Mdlalose
replaced the new chairperson on the treasury portfolio.
The outgoing board was elected into office in 2009 and the elections
were held in line with the NANGO constitution that compels the organization
to hold elections once every three years.
In order to ensure representation of all sectors in the new board,
organizations belonging to same clusters broke into groups to second
representatives to the board.
Seven clusters
were identified and these were the Youth, Health and HIV, Arts and
Culture, and Children who were represented in the new board by Dumisani
Dube, Gloria Dube, Joshua Nyampimbi and Nosihle Ndlovu respectively.
Justice Zvaita,
Polite Ndlovu and Anne Malinga were seconded to the board to represent
the Environment, Humanitarian and Disability sectors respectively.
Outgoing Chairman
Mr. Godwin Phiri wished well the incoming team and urged them to
ensure that they expand the scope of the NANGO western region to
Matabeleland provinces.
Bulawayo Agenda
congratulates the new board in assuming leadership and responsibility
positions. The organization hopes the new team will work hard in
championing the issues of the region for the benefit of the people
of the broader western region.
Bulawayo Agenda
bids fair well to the outgoing board for their contribution to the
development of the region. We also congratulate the new board and
urge the elected officers to take the region to another level.
