Masvingo
Zaka North

Moderate

A case of victimization on political grounds has been reported in Zaka North. It is reported that two ZANU PF activists, Mr. Chakona who is also the party's provincial chairman and Mr. Masese, a card carrying member went on a rampant attack on MDC supporters in ward 5 on the 21st of September. The two moved from one village to another forcing villagers to attend a ZANU PF caucus meeting. The villagers thronged the meeting out of fear where they were warned against voting for any other party besides ZANU PF. The victims were threatened with a repeat of the 2008 political violence if ever they fail to comply. Villagers have been living in fear since then and community leaders in ward 5 reported the case to JOMIC which promised to look into the issue.

Tense Cases of victimization have also been recorded in ward 24, Zaka West. Reports are that the ZANU PF activists have been frequenting the homesteads of the victims threatening them with death if they continue supporting MDC. The victimization has been so intense in the past two weeks that the affected have been banned from using public amenities such as boreholes and dip tanks until they surrender their allegiance to MDC. Midlands North
Gokwe

Calm

No cases of political violence or intimidation have been reported in the area. Civic education, public meetings and political rallies are taking place with minimum disruptions.

Mashonaland Central
Mazowe
Calm No cases of political violence have been reported during the past week. Youth in the area are grateful for unifying activities in the form of Peace soccer and netball tournaments that have been introduced by Civil society organizations such as ZimRights, Heal Zimbabwe and CCDZ. The sports have brought youth from diverse political parties and this has had a unifying effect on the youth most of whom have little to do as a result of unemployment. It has been noted that youth are the ones mostly used in violent activities by political leaders as most of them are idle with little or no activities, jobs to occupy their minds.

Masvingo
Gutu
Calm No cases of political violence have been reported in the area but villagers are unsettled over the upcoming 2nd All Stakeholders Conference which they think might turn violent leading to another delay in the finalization of the constitution making process. To them, a new constitution is a road map to free, fair and peaceful elections.

Manicaland
Buhera
Calm No cases of political violence have been recorded in the area.

Masvingo
