ZANU PF activists and suspected CIO agents disrupt peace-building
meeting in Gokwe
Centre

July 18, 2012
A meeting on
peace-building that had been organised by the Centre for Community
Development In Zimbabwe (CCDZ) at Nyamhara Primary School in Ward
14 Gokwe North was disrupted this afternoon by ZANU PF activists
and suspected Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) operatives.
About 45 community
residents who had turned up for the meeting were told to go back
home and not to associate with "regime change NGOs". The
ZANU PF activists interrogated the CCDZ programme officers Tinashe
Chatira, Vellim Nyama, Tsungai Vere and George Makoni and they recorded
the full names, district of origin, national identity registration
numbers of the CCDZ employees. The CIOs also wanted to know the
source of funding for the Peace-building project and why CCDZ did
not have a clearance letter from the Organ on National Healing and
Reconciliation or the Midlands governor to conduct the programme
in Gokwe.
The CIOs ordered
the CCDZ officers to go to the government complex at Chireya but
they managed to escape and they are at a safe location.
