Masvingo
Zaka West
Tense The issue of unfair distribution of food continue to haunt Zaka West. The Prime Minister, Mr. Tsvangirai was on 7 July forced to intervene in the situation during a public meeting at Chivamba business centre in ward 28. The PM received reports of the politicization of food aid and was shocked at the reports from the villagers that the food distribution process was hijacked and only benefitting members of one political party. He told the gathering that the drought mitigation scheme is meant for everyone regardless of political affiliation. He promised to make a follow up on the issue in cabinet and also promised to meet the relevant GMB officials. He further insisted on traditional leaders to desist from being used by politicians to instigate political violence but urged them to concentrate on fostering peace in their respective communities. Masvingo province is one of the areas that have received a poor harvest.
Mashonaland Central
Muzarabani

Tense ZANU PF supporters are alleged to have forcefully taken over community gardens belonging to MDC supporters in Chadereka village accusing them of supporting a "wrong party" The ZANU PF supporters are said to have moved door by door last week threatening all MDC supporters to surrender their gardens citing that they are "traitors" who are bent on returning this country to white rule. The victims were not even allowed to set foot into the gardens to harvest their produce first and were banned from getting 10 meters close to the gardens, any violators were threatened with death. HZT has urged the victims to report the case to the police so that the organisation will make follow ups with JOMIC which requires complainants to first report their case with the police before lodging complains with them, a process that is time consuming.

It is further reported that the food distribution exercise is still being done in a partisan manner and only benefitting ZANU PF supporters.
