released, five remanded in custody

Five COTRAD
activist who appeared before Masvingo Magistrate court yesterday
were remanded in custody to the Monday 9 of July 2012 at 14.15pm
for bail application ruling after the state had initial oppossed
bail citing the activists were not proper candidates that could
be granted bail.
The five activist
are facing two counts of contravening section 25 (5) of the Public
Order and Security Act (POSA) chapter 11.17 number 18/2007 and
undermining the authority of the president defined in section 33(1)
(b) of the code. In the same vein other five activists were released
on the pretext that Area Prosecutor Shumba agitated that no charges
could be proffered against the five. The state outlined that if
there is need for prosecution it will be proceed by way of summons
COTRAD will
continue to play beacon role in the quest to attain political, socio-economic
rights to the generality of the Zimbabweans.
