HZT
has received information that some ZANU PF members in Chadereka
village, Muzarabani are intimidating people from other political
parties to defect to ZANU PF. This was a resolution made at
a special ZANU PF meeting chaired by Senator Junior Manyeruke.
The Senator told his supporters present at the meeting that
they should stop tolerating other political parties in the area
and should try by "all means necessary" to ensure
that ZANU is the only party present in Mashonaland Central.
After this meeting it is alleged that ZANU
PF supporters have been moving village by village demanding
that other people from other political parties surrender their
party regalia and defect to ZANU PF. Chief Kasekete and one
only identified as Bomber are said to be leading such groups.
The group is also said to have confisticated Urayai Nguruve's
scotch cart who is an MDC supporter and stated that they will
only return the cart after he buys a ZANU PF card. Mr. Nguruve
reported the case to the police but no arrests have been made
so far.

Tension
is high in Buhera South over the distribution of grain. It is
reported that Mr. J. Chinotimba and the ZANU PF DCC chairman
have taken over the food distribution exercise at the GMB sub
deport in Mutiusinazita where they are giving the grain to ZANU
PF supporters only. This led to an altercation between MDC and
ZANU PF supporters with the former demanding that the exercise
be carried out by professional GMB officials but Mr. Chinotimba
and his team where adamant claiming that they are punishing
the MDC supporters for voting for the "wrong party"
in 2008. |

The
area is generally peaceful but it is alleged that members of
the police are on a spree of interrupting MDC rallies demanding
that the supporters displace even though they are notified of
the meetings in time. The latest disturbances were at Chin'ai
last week where the police disrupted an MDC rally and disturbed
the proceedings leading to the rally being called off. |
