PM leaves for China on Government business
Prime
Minister's Office
May 24, 2012
Prime Minister
Morgan Tsvangirai tomorrow leaves for China on Government business
where he will engage in high-level meetings to resuscitate several
stalled projects in Zimbabwe.
Several projects
funded through the China Exim Bank in the fields of energy and water,
among others, have stalled due to several reasons including the
country's failure to service loans.
The PM is visiting
China at the invitation of the Chinese government.
He will hold
meetings with his Chinese counterpart, Mr Wen Jiabao, attend the
official opening of CIFTIS and address a Zimbabwe Promotion conference,
among several other engagements.
The PM has included
in his delegation the Ministers and officials from the Ministries
of State Enterprises and Water Resources Management as well as officials
from the Harare City Council and the Ministry of Finance.
Some of the
Sino-supported projects include entities in which government has
an interest as well as the rehabilitation of Harare's water and
sewerage systems.
Contrary to
mischievous claims by The Herald that the Prime Minister's Office
has a bloated delegation of 31, the delegation includes 11 people
from the two mentioned government Ministries, the Harare City Council
and others from the Ministry of Finance.
PM Tsvangirai
returns next week.
