Attacked for fighting for justice
Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD)

March 06, 2012

Efforts to stage a demonstration today against the suspension of 29 non-governmental organizations were derailed after three unidentified man driving a Nissan twin cab belonging to the state department stormed the COTRAD offices threatened and intimidated office attendants against staging a demonstration to rebuke the Governor of Masvingo Province Titus Maluleke. COTRAD has viewed the involvement of the state department as a direct confrontation to the uplifting of human rights in a province where they are grossly abused.

Therefore for whom is the suspension of Non-governmental organization benefiting. It is just mere rhetoric of the few propagandist who want to cling on to power and manipulate justice for their own selfish political aggrandizement. COTRAD stands firm to fight crimes against humanity that are being committed by those who are abusing public office like Governor Maluleke who is denying humanitarian organizations to provide food to the drought prone province and civic organizations that are working in the province were human rights were grossly abused during the run up to the Re-run in June 2008. COTRAD will continue to push for the suspended organizations to resume their operations in Masvingo.

Meanwhile the unidentified men impounded 75 "Where you are coming from matters than were you are going" books sourced from the American Public Affairs Department and written by Ambassador Charles Ray including 200 discs sourced from Zimbabwe Human Rights Association that reflected human rights violations of 2008. COTRAD will continue to play a vanguard role and ensure that human rights are respected not only in Masvingo but the whole nation at large.
