Crisis Coalition elects new leadership
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition

Mr Okay Machisa the Director of Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) was on Saturday the 22nd of October elected as the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition Chairperson at The Coalition's 10th Annual General Meeting held in Bulawayo. Mrs Grace Chirenje from Zimbabwe Young Women Network Peace Building (ZYWNP) was elected as the Vice-Chairperson whilst Tabani Moyo, the Acting Director of Bulawayo Agenda was elected as the Spokesperson.

Speaking after the election Mr. Machisa noted that there is need for the members of the coalition to work as a family towards strengthening the Coalition's membership. Mr. Machisa further noted that the Coalition should

1. Ensure that issues pertaining to the constitution making process and the referendum as well as election should remain key issues on the coalition's agenda.
2. Develop a shared understanding and consensus through deliberative discourse between itself and its members.
3. Strive to enhance member's positions on critical matters that affect the state and its citizens so as to capacitate members towards increasing the possibilities of Zimbabweans become a democratic development state.

Mr.Machisa reiterated the commitment of his leadership to the key advocacy message of the Coalition moving 2012 that, "2012 is not a year for elections but the year for credible democratic electoral reforms".

The annual general meeting which was also served to mark The Coalition's 10th year anniversary was meant to come up with shared understanding and consensus through deliberate discussion, debate and engagement between the coalition and its members.
