Peaceful march against Jabulani Sibanda intimidation
Community Tolerance Reconciliation and Development (COTRAD)

August 19, 2011

As COTRAD we are not against any political party neither are we in support of any political party. We are here for the total emancipation of the people through the promotion of political tolerance and positive development of our nation Zimbabwe.

We are not against the personality of Jabulani Sibanda or any individual but against retrogressive acts that reverses the hard earned political independence of Zimbabwe. We really honour the contributions made by each and everyone who made the political independence of Zimbabwe a realistic but we are strongly against the culture of political violence, intimidation and zero-tolerance which has continued to cripple positive development in the realisation of a desired democratic nation.

Liberation fighters fought to see a free Zimbabwe where nationals have a right to choose their own leaders without fear, intimidation or violence. As a youth oriented organisation we are keen to help our leaders in building the Zimbabwe we want.

At independence everyone thought the nation had moved milestones towards total emancipation of the populace, but 31 years down the line this has remained apparent than real. In actual fact since 2000 plebiscite the culture of intimidation, political violence and zero tolerance have increased at an alarming rate reaching the climax in 2008.

This resulted in the formation of the current government of compromise negotiated by SADC as a temporary measure with the hope of making long lasting solution. At this juncture in politics when everyone anticipates a people driven constitution for the first time since independence, and a conducive, peaceful enabling environment for free and fair elections, Jabulani Sibanda is once again found destabilising the little progress made towards attaining this. Jabulani Sibanda's proclamations are indeed a recipe for disaster in national building.

As COTRAD we therefore call upon every peace loving youth in Masvingo province to come and join us in the march against disruption of peace, political intimidation, and violence and zero tolerance by Jabulani Sibanda and his team on 24th of August 2011. The peaceful march will start at 10.00 am from ZB Bank Masvingo to Masvingo Civic Centre.

Remember history is calling you and shall judge you harshly for folding your arms when you are needed most. Yes as youths you don't have the purse but you have the pace and numerical advantage. Your voice shall make a difference let your self be heard, you are leaders of today not tomorrow and the future lies in your hands. The onus of rebuilding our beloved nation is vested in your hands. Let Sibanda not harass, intimidate and suffocate the rights of our poor parents while we stand aside and look. Youths together as a whole we can make it.
