NCA
message on the passing on of Matthew Mafuta
National Constitutional Assembly (NCA)
August
01, 2011
The National
Constitutional Assembly (NCA) sadly announces the passing on of
one of the movement's long serving employees Mathew Mafuta.
He died in his
sleep at his Tafara home after a long illness. He will be buried
today at Mabvuku Cemetery at 1200hours.
Affectionately
known at Bumbiro House (NCA Headquarters) as Chief, Mafuta was born
on the 1st of October in 1960. He joined the NCA as an Office Assistant
in August 2004 a position he held till the time of his death.
We would like
to send our deepest condolences to the Mafuta family and the entire
movement on the loss.
It is indeed
a great loss for the family to lose a father, a child, a brother
and an uncle who was a provider in the family and always cared.
Mafuta was a
committed cadre of the constitutional reform movement and he remained
dedicated even when the organisation went through difficult times.
He knew that
joining the struggle was inviting arrest, torture and death for
him and his family. Yet for the 7 years he worked for the NCA he
never flinched, never displayed any sign of weakness.
Mafuta was a
humble, self-effacing and loyal employee. For him right was right
and wrong was wrong. We hope that these values will not die with
him.
He is survived
by his wife and four children.
He will be greatly missed but certainly never forgotten. The NCA
dips its banners to honour a dedicated comrade of our movement.
May his soul
rest in eternal peace.
