GNU principals must publicly condemn violence
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition
June 28, 2011

Villagers in Mudzi North have called for the denouncement of violence by the three principles in the inclusive government in as a way of promoting peace in rural communities. The villagers said they should be no talk of elections without the completion of the constitution making process, implementation of the agreed terms in the GPA, security sector reforms and the presence of observers and a peace-keeping force 6 months prior to elections and afterwards.

The theater discussion forum, which focused on the need for peaceful co-existence among villagers and participation in national processes, was held by Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition in Mudzi at Kapotesa Business Centre on the 25th of July and attended by 141 people, 86 men and 55 women. The meeting was also used as a platform to clarify the outcomes of the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Summit held in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Meanwhile villagers in Mudzi South are living in fear after councillor Kanjere with the assistance of the ZANU PF youth league and two village heads Kambanje and Nyamukondiwa unleashed violence and set up a base at Makanjera in the district. The youths led by Simon Kapanga are reportedly moving around the district demanding food from villagers and beating up anyone who does not attend ZANU PF meetings.
