Remembering a friend and a colleague - Shingie Chimuriwo
Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition
March 16, 2011
You can shed
tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see her,
or can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her only that she is gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind,
Be empty and turn your back.
Or you can do what she'd want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

The board, membership
and secretariat of the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition joins the Chimuriwo
and Tichawangana families and the Norwegian People's Aid in
celebrating the life of an enterprising and caring colleague, dedicated
comrade and loving friend, Shingie Chimuriwo who passed away on
the 16th of March 2011 in a car accident.
Shingie was
among the first persons to enquire whenever there were developments
within the civil society and would offer advice and possible intervention
strategies in the face of challenges. She will be remembered for
her caring nature which transcended work boundaries, her zeal for
democratic Zimbabwe and the genuine loved she showed towards fellow
comrades. Above all, Shingie will be remembered for living an honourable
life, a life punctuated by selflessness, dedicated and hard work.
As we celebrate
her life and mourn her death, let us derive strength from lessons
from Shingie's life. She always came across as one who never
allowed diversity and challenges to put her down, she would always
engage the challenges with a positive demeanour and look forward
to a brighter day. To a lot of us, she was our sunny day, and our
breath of fresh air. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
