Habakkuk
leader urges peace
Bulawayo Agenda
January 21, 2011
Bulawayo - Dumisani Nkomo, the CEO of Habakkuk
Trust, has urged the people of Matabeleland not to take revenge
on the perpetrators of the Gukurahundi atrocities and the marginalisation
of the region. He advised that moderate ways have to be used so
that the people can take themselves out of the situation that they
find themselves in. this call comes a day before Bulawayo residents
gather tomorrow at the City Centre Baptist Church to commemorate
the Gukurahundi atrocities. Ibhetshu likazulu, the organizers of
the commemorations said that this is neither the first nor the last
to happen in Bulawayo. Mbuso Fuzwayo, the secretary of Ibhetshu
likazulu said everyone is invited to these commemorations which
start at 1300hrs tomorrow.
Gwanda
- Residents of the small mining town have called upon the Ministry
of Health to interfere in the treatment of patients by nurses at
the Gwanda Provincial Hospital. Residents allege that nurses call
them all sorts of names and they are harassed every time they go
to seek treatment. Residents allege that one of the Matrons (name
with held) at the hospital is aware of this harassment of patients
and has not done anything to whip the nurses into line. It is also
claimed that residents now prefer to be treated at the Phakama Poly
Clinic than at the hospital as the latter has more friendly nurses
though no expertise.
