No
sign of construction at Lupane State University
Bulawayo Agenda
November 19, 2010
Lupane - Lupane State University was given US$1, 5 million for construction
in June 2010. President Mugabe revealed this at the university's
graduation ceremony in Lupane. However, there is still no sign of
construction at the university site. In early October this year,
officials at Lupane State University claimed that construction at
the site was in full swing. Meanwhile, President Mugabe surprised
all and sundry at the ceremony by not talking of party politics.
Analysts say this is because he fears being booed by students. His
Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education Dr Stanlous Gorerazo Mudenge
instead took to the podium and castigated the west for imposing
sanctions "which have led to the downfall of the education
system in the country."
Bulawayo - War
veterans (Warvets) are allegedly gearing up for elections. It is
claimed that the former liberators met in Bulawayo on the 18th November
2010 at around lunchtime "to sharpen their skills" ahead
of next year's election. At the meeting the war vets resolved
that as from the 4th of December 2010 they will start beating up
people to campaign and vote for Zanu PF. The beatings, they resolved,
will be part of the Zanu PF campaign strategy.
Umzingwane -
DPM Thokozani Khupe will tomorrow tour the Umzingwane dam to check
on the water levels. She will then proceed to Mtshabezi dam to check
on the progress on the pipeline project. She will be accompanied
by Bulawayo Mayor, Cllr. Thaba Moyo and his councilors.
Victoria Falls
- Esau Ncube, Vic Falls Agenda committee member has been arrested
in the resort town after presenting a paper at a residents meeting
to give feedback on a food outlet that is importing new staff from
Gweru to Vic Falls. It is asserted that Ncube was complaining that
even at the Elephant Hills Hotel there are 'foreigners'
as workers while youths from Vic Falls are roaming the street because
of unemployment. Ncube has been charged with Section 42 sub section
2 of POSA.
