Anti-torture posters removed
Bulawayo Agenda

November 12, 2010

Anti torture posters put up by the NGO Forum in Bulawayo two weeks ago have been pulled down by "unknown" people. The NGO Forum had on the 28th of October 2010 put up anti torture posters on Main Street and Fife Street, along George Silundika and in Paddonhurst in Bulawayo. Police detectives allegedly called the NGO Forum ordering them to pull down the posters saying they are offensive to other people and therefore causing alarm and despondency. Officials from the organisation alk of the issue today the 12th of Nov. However, when the officials arrived for the meeting yesterday night they found the posters on Main Street torn down. Reports are that 6 people in a White Mitsubishi vehicle were seen tearing the posters down at 0200hrs.

Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU) and ZIMCODD will host the 6th Edition of the Zimbabwe Social Forum on the 13th of November 2010. The event will be held at Amakhosi Cultural Centre. It will kick off with a march starting from the City Hall at 0800hrs to Amakhosi Cultural Centre. The event will be running under the theme: "Fighting for Sustainable livelihoods and deepening struggles for social and economic rights in Zimbabwe."
